If you have ever been there then you will surely agree that Glasgow is a brilliant city with a thriving social scene and some of the best clubs and pubs that you will ever visit. It's not just concerts, pubs and nightclubs that make it special, however, because the Glasgow restaurant scene is one of the best in the country. No matter what your culinary style is, from pub lunch to Michelin starred restaurant, you are sure to dfind something that will tempt you in this amazingly eclectic city. The problem is, with so much choice on the menu, so to speak, where do you start? Well, as a taster to whet your appetite here are my personal favorites, in no particular order of course.

1. Michael Caines - situated in the centre of the city on Bath street, Michael Caines sets new standards in chic. Dont be fooled by the listed building however, for dining at MC's is a truly modern and up to date affair with a wide range of sumptuous contemporary dishes on offer. At this point, I should point out that Michael Caine actually refers to the chef - award winning and MBE holder - who owns the restaurant, and not the well known and much loved veteran British actor. This dedication to quality and service is reflected throughout the whole establishment. Well worth a visit if quality dining is your thing.

2. Sloans Bar And Restaurant. What can I say about Sloans that hasn't already been said. Simply put its a Glasgow institution. This is Glasgows oldest pub and restaurant and is worth a visit even if you dont intend dining there - although if you choose not to then you will be missing out on some of the best food in the city as well. Not everyone will love the ornate surroundings with their perfectly panelled walls, and beautifully decorated cornices but its very in-keeping with the listed building that holds it and is worthy of a visit just to see the period features themselves. The food is excellent, and theres plent of it, but I partucularly like the eat dine night which is held every Tuesday, that enables you to take in a movie while eating your meal - just like being at home as a little kid in front of the telly - fantastic!

3. Dragon I. This is a relatively new addition to the Glasgow restaurant scene, but its quickly gaining a solid reputation for being one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city - if not the land. The surroundings are sumptuous, as is the food and if you only eat one Chinese meal this year - please make sure you enjoy it in Dragon I.

There are literally hundreds of great Glasgow restaurant experiences to savour in this amazing city, but hopefully I have given you a little start with my three top picks. From Mongolian, to Japanese, American to Spanish, Glasgow has it all. Sit down, tuck in and enjoy.
